Inaugural Kota Orienteering Championship Successfully Concludes – A New Chapter Begins!

Kota, Rajasthan – April 2025:

The Dhyan Chand Foundation is proud to share the successful completion of the Inaugural Orienteering Championships of Kota, marking another milestone in the expansion of this fast-growing, Olympic-recognized sport in India. Held amidst the dynamic academic and cultural environment of Kota, the event witnessed 35 enthusiastic participants from the age group 11 to 40 years, all eager to explore the world of orienteering.

The event offered participants a unique opportunity to engage with the sport, combining physical fitness with strategic thinking as they navigated through a mapped outdoor course using just a compass and their skills.

A very special thank you to our esteemed international guests:

  • Mr. Jaroslav Kacmarcik, International Orienteering Federation (IOF) Coordinator for Africa and the Indian Ocean
  • Ms. Giulia Zenere, Project Manager, Park World Tour (PWT), Sweden

Their invaluable presence and engaging sessions played a crucial role in introducing participants—many for the first time—to the core concepts of orienteering. From map reading and route choice to timing and terrain tactics, Mr. Jaroslav and Ms. Giulia’s guidance truly inspired the students and budding athletes of Kota.

Event Highlights:

  • 35 participants aged 11 to 40 from various walks of life
  • Hands-on training and demonstration sessions led by international experts
  • Well-designed course offering a blend of strategy and stamina
  • Excitement, learning, and community spirit at the heart of the event
  • Participation certificates awarded to all, along with recognition for top performers

This successful event signals the beginning of orienteering activities in Kota, with the Dhyan Chand Foundation committed to growing the sport further in the region. We extend heartfelt thanks to local organizers, volunteers, educators, and our international partners for making this inaugural edition a memorable one.

Kota has taken the first stride—many more adventures await!
