Dhyan Chand Foundation Celebrates “National Sports Day 2024”

New Delhi, 29th August 2024 – The Dhyanchand Foundation marked a momentous celebration of National Sports Day on the 29th of August at the Dhyan Chand National Stadium, New Delhi. The event, dedicated to honoring the legacy of hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand, was attended by a host of sports celebrities, business personalities, and dignitaries.

Shri Gaurav Singh, President of the Dhyanchand Foundation, warmly welcomed the attendees, including esteemed sports figures like Harbinder Singh Chimni, Surendra Khanna, Arvind Chabbra, Sita Gossain, Neha Saroha, and Kuldeep Singh Rao. Business leaders such as Sparsh Director Bidhubhushan Nayak, Alok Kulshresta, founder Star Media 13 Network and Vinay Gupta were also present, alongside senior officers Farhat Khan and Hemant Kumar Meena, showcasing strong support from various sectors.

Shri Manoj Tiwari, Member of Parliament, graced the occasion as the chief guest and highlighted the importance of sports in nation-building. He presented hockey sticks and balls to the children of Army Public School, Delhi Cantt, on behalf of the Dhyanchand Foundation, emphasizing the Foundation’s commitment to promoting sports among the youth.

Adding an international dimension to the event, Mr. Jaroslav Kacmarcik from Sweden and Ms. Giulia Zenere of Park World Tour organized a game of orienteering for the members of the Delhi Sports Journalist Association. The association’s president, Shri Abhishek Tripathi, along with eleven members, actively participated in the event. The presence of former international umpire Kishori Lal Azad, Ashok Mathur, Shailendra Singh, General Secretary of Khelo Master Games Foundation, Sanjeev Pandey from SBI, and Sanjay Bhatia further enriched the occasion.

In a special tribute to Indian sports icons, the Dhyanchand Foundation transformed the middle lobby of the stadium into a Hall of Fame, recognizing and celebrating the achievements of India’s sporting legends.

Shri Gaurav Singh, in his address, expressed his heartfelt thanks to all the guests and participants for making the event a resounding success. He reaffirmed the Foundation’s dedication to preserving Major Dhyan Chand’s legacy and its unwavering efforts to nurture future sports talents in India.

The National Sports Day celebrations concluded on a high note, leaving attendees inspired and motivated to continue contributing to the development of sports in India. The Dhyanchand Foundation remains steadfast in its mission to honor the legacy of Major Dhyan Chand and foster a sporting culture across the nation.
